The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the country's energy grid, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
